The Kombat UK Magnesium fire starter combines a small ferrocerium rod and a magnesium Block with a shaver/striking tool in one small, compact, lightweight package. That can fit in your pocket or fire kit easily.
Use the attached striker to shave fillings of magnesium off the block, place them in a little pile, and then strike the ferrocerium rod to create a spark, to ignite the pile of magnesium shavings. Then add your Tinder to ignite your campfire.
The magnesium burns hot and will help make lighting a fire in cold, wet, or windy conditions just a little easier.
