Why We Support Highlander
Highlander Outdoors – A Local Brand We Trust!
Highlander Outdoors is based just a few miles away from us in Livingston, Scotland, and has been a trusted partner for almost a decade.
Over the years, we’ve used their products ourselves on countless outdoor adventures, and we’ve come to rely on their excellent quality and fair prices.
The team at Highlander provides us with top-notch customer service and support, which has earned them a place as one of Wylies Outdoor World’s “Core” Brands.
As a proud supporter of local and UK businesses, we’re excited to continue our partnership with Highlander.
Over the last ten years, Wylies Outdoor World’s owner, Drew Wylie, has personally tested hundreds of Highlander products in real-world conditions. This hands-on experience gives us the confidence to offer their gear to you, knowing it will stand up to your own outdoor pursuits.
At 570g for a complete cooking system, the Highlander Blade Fastboil 3 gives you everything you need without the weight penalty. This self-contained gas stove packs the burner, pot stand, stabiliser and a 100g gas cartridge inside a 1.1 litre hard anodised pot. Designed for solo campers, hikers and backpackers who refuse to compromise between pack weight and cooking versatility.
Key Specifications:
Wylies Outdoor World's owner Drew has tested the Highlander Blade Fastboil 3 extensively through four years of daily use. He owns three units: one permanently in his backpack, one in his Land Rover for car camping, and a spare.
After four years of regular use across Scotland, all three Piezo ignitions still work reliably. Drew has used these stoves on adventures throughout Scotland including the NC 500 and Rob Roy Way, where a lightweight, flexible and self-contained cooking system is the best choice.
If you have questions about the Highlander Blade Fastboil 3 or need advice on choosing camping stoves, Drew is happy to share his experience. Get in touch for advice on outdoor cooking equipment.
Everything packs inside the pot. The burner, pot stand, stabiliser and a 100g gas cartridge all nest inside the 1.1L pot, creating a complete cooking system that takes minimal backpack space. This makes it ideal for lightweight trips across the Scottish Highlands, walking the West Highland Way, hiking the Pennine Way, exploring the Lake District fells, tackling Snowdonia peaks, traversing the Peak District, or wild camping in the Cairngorms where pack weight and space matter.
The integrated Piezo ignition lights the burner without matches or lighters. Four years of daily use confirms consistent reliability even in challenging Scottish weather conditions. All three units in regular use still have functioning Piezo ignitions after extensive use across exposed mountain locations, coastal campsites, and moorland wild camping spots throughout the UK.
The quality regulator offers precise flame control. You can simmer dehydrated meals, porridge, sauces and other camp foods rather than just boiling water. This versatility makes the Fastboil 3 suitable for preparing trail food and rations or heating MRE-style meals on the go.
The included stabiliser clips onto the gas cartridge, creating a stable base for the burner and pot. This stability is important when cooking on uneven ground in wild camping locations across the Brecon Beacons, Yorkshire Dales, Scottish Munros, or any UK mountain and moorland terrain.
The included pot stand allows you to use the burner with other cooking sets and pots. The pot stand is stable enough to support cookware for two or three people, making the Fastboil 3 useful for group cooking or car camping beyond solo backpacking trips.
Pot Construction: Hard anodised aluminium provides durability, efficient heat distribution and lightweight performance. The hard anodised finish resists scratching and wear from regular use.
Handle Design: Butterfly-style handles with silicone grips allow safe handling of the hot pot. The handles fold flat for compact storage.
Burner Performance: Heat transmitters protect the flame and reduce heat loss in wind, making the burner more efficient in the windy conditions common on UK mountains, exposed coastal paths, and moorland camping locations from the Scottish Highlands to the South West Coast Path.
Fuel Compatibility: Works with 100g or 450g valved gas cartridges. A 100g cartridge fits inside the pot for compact packing, while a 450g cartridge provides longer burn time for extended trips.
Colour Options: Available with Blue or Olive Green insulating sleeves. Both colours include identical specifications and performance.
Setup: Remove the burner, pot stand and stabiliser from inside the pot. Attach the stabiliser to your gas cartridge. Screw the burner onto the gas cartridge. Place the pot on the burner or use the pot stand for other cookware.
Lighting: Turn the gas control valve to open the gas flow. Press the Piezo ignition button to light the burner. Adjust the flame using the regulator for boiling or simmering.
Packing: Allow all components to cool completely. Nest the burner, pot stand and stabiliser inside the pot. A 100g gas cartridge fits inside with the other components. Place everything in the included carry bag.
The Highlander Blade Fastboil 3 works as part of a complete bushcraft cooking system. Pair it with Highlander gas cartridges for fuel. Keep a spare pot stand for extended trips.

The Fastboil 3 is compatible with both 100g and 450g valved gas cartridges. A 100g cartridge fits inside the pot for compact packing.
A 100g gas cartridge provides a reasonable length of use for solo camping, sufficient for multiple brews and meals. Actual duration depends on flame setting, weather conditions and cooking requirements.
Yes, the included pot stand allows you to use the burner with other camping pots and pans. The pot stand supports cookware for two or three people.
Yes, the Piezo ignition has proven consistently reliable through four years of daily use. All three units in regular use still have functioning Piezo ignitions after extensive use in UK weather conditions including rain and wind.
The adjustable regulator provides precise flame control for simmering dehydrated meals, porridge, sauces and other camp foods, not just boiling water.
The complete system weighs 570g, including the pot, burner, pot stand, stabiliser, sleeves and carry bag.
The burner design includes heat transmitters that protect the flame and reduce heat loss in wind, making it reliable in windy conditions common on UK mountains.
Yes, the Fastboil 3 is ideal for multi-day hiking trips like the West Highland Way or Pennine Way. At 570g, it provides a complete cooking system without excessive pack weight. The self-contained design means everything nests inside the pot, saving valuable backpack space. Pair with 100g gas cartridges for lightweight packing, or carry a 450g cartridge for longer sections between resupply points.
You can cook full meals. The adjustable regulator allows precise simmering, so you can cook pasta, rice, porridge, or sauces in the 1.1L pot. The pot stand also lets you use larger cookware if you need more capacity for group meals at car camping or base camp locations.
The Fastboil 3 performs well in Scottish winter conditions. The heat transmitters protect the flame from wind, and the Piezo ignition has proven reliable after four years of use in challenging Scottish weather. For winter camping at altitude, consider using 450g cartridges as gas performance can decrease in very cold temperatures.
