When Camping, Hiking or even travelling its important to keep your calorie intake in line with the amount of calories your body needs to help fight fatigue. For that, any fitness enthusiast will tell you that you need high protein and carbs!
This lentil soup recipe has everything your body needs, as this is our own recipe it's near impossible to accurately tell you exactly how much nutrients and calories each portion has but Wylie's Outdoor Worlds owner Drew Wylie, has used this recipe for years as part of a high protein weight gain eating plan for years.
This soup is thick and filling with a mild spicy kick that is truly delicious after a long hike in the ever-changing Scottish weather when you finally arrive at camp and your body is craving nutrients and calories.
This recipe will make 12 large servings that can be put in self-sealing Mylar bags that we stock on the website, at room temperature they will last a month (longest we have tested this)
- 1 Large Ham Hock
- 1 Pack of Ham Trimmings
- 1 Chorizo Sausage
- 1 Bag of Carrots
- 1 Bag of sweet potato
- 6 Sweet Red Peppers
- 2 Red Onions
- 1 Red Chilli or (more to increase the heat)
- 4 Garlic Cloves
- 4 Tins of Chopped Tomatoes
- Fresh Parsley, Thyme & Oregano, (to taste)
- Black Pepper (to taste)
- Smoked Paprika (to taste)
