The DD Hammocks Jura 2 Sleeping Bag is Drews first choice, With an abundance of Sleeping Bag options on the market today he explains why he has decided to use the DD Jura 2 over any other Sleeping Bag and gives you a comprehensive and unbiased review to help you decide if the DD Jura 2 is right for you!
First Impressions of the DD Jura 2 Sleeping BagWhen my our first stock order arrived from DD Hammocks. I was already familiar with the DD Jura 2 Sleeping Bag and its excellent reputation. I had also spoken with DD Hammocks at length regarding a number of their products prior to making our first order.
In its stuff sack it didn't appear any larger or heavier than any other 3 season bag, I eagerly pulled the Jura 2 sleeping bag out of the stuff sack, unzipped the Jura 2 and went to go for a cuppa to give the Jura a chance to "puff out" before having a closer look. It didn't take long at all and I have to admit after closer inspection I was impressed with just how much sleeping bag you really do get for the price tag.
The DD Hammocks Jura 2 sleeping bag is a 3 season "mummy" style sleeping bag, rated down to -5 degrees, with a front zipper rather than a side zipper, making it so much easier to get in and out of when hammock camping. two internal mesh pockets and a waterproof, heavy duty footbox (A unique feature) I also paid particular attention to the external and internal stitching and happy to say the build quality certainly looks very sturdy indeed. I have seen worse stitching on others and sometimes more expensive camping sleeping bags.
Putting the DD Jura 2 Sleeping bag to the testthroughout the testing of the DD Jura 2 Sleeping Bag, I went camping four nights a week, almost every week, for over a year and a half at the time of writing this review. So the Jura 2 has seen every season and every weather condition the U.K. could throw at us.
In this time I can honestly say that I have no complaints at all about the Jura 2's quality or design. I have found it to be durable, its never been washed once in still in great condition. The zipper and any "weak spots" have remained secure and have years of life left in them before they will become a concern. The foot box again has held up just as well. The footbox has crinkled slightly due to my unique means of packing my whole sleep system away for quickly packing it away and setting it up when I arrive at my campsite but still to this day causes me any cause for concern.

What has the DD Jura 2 been tested with?
As I have tested almost all of the DD Hammocks range by the time of Writing this review I have tested my DD Jura 2 with the following hammocks:
- DD Superlight Hammock
- DD Frontline Hammock
- DD Superlight Frontline Hammock
- DD Frontline XL Hammock
- DD Camping Hammock
- DD Underblanket
- a few unbranded hammocks
- I have also used it while ground dwelling on many wild camping trips
and found that it makes little difference what camping hammock I am using on my own wild camping trips to the performance of the DD Jura 2 Sleeping Bag.
How Does the DD Jura 2 Temperature rating hold up?
The one question you will really want to know is how does the DD Jura 2 Sleeping bag fair in the wildly changing weather conditions of the U.K.?
I am pleased to say that I have never had a cold night using the DD Jura 2 yet, even in the winter. But please bear in mind that throughout the time I have tested the Jura that I have been wearing adequate clothing for the weather conditions, and also been using the DD Hammocks Underblanket with each trip, as well as utilising my DD Superlight Tarp (DD Hammocks Superlight Tarp Review can be found here) I have also used any natural cover available when selecting my wild camping spot on each trip. So all these are factors to take into account when deciding if the DD Jura 2 is right for you. In the warmer months, the Jura 2 sleeping bag performed equally well! I was expecting it to be overly warm. However simply leaving the zipper down provided me with ample cooler air throughout the warmer months so it really has been the one bag that suits me perfectly, all year round in conjunction with other elements of my essential camping kit!
